But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. (2 Cor. 4:7)
Do you know what an earthen vessel is? It's nothing more than a clay pot. . . . That's a reference to our bodies and our abilities in the strength of our flesh. That is all you and I have to offer God . . . a pot. A perishable container.
You may be like brittle, delicate china. You break and chip easily, and you could show the glue marks because of those broken times. Then again, you may be a rugged, scarred hunk of heavy pottery---not very attractive, but boy, are you useful. Or you may be composed of clay that hasn't yet been fired in the kiln; you are still being molded and shaped for use. . . .
To tell you the truth, it isn't the condition of the pot that's most important. What's important is the treasure inside---the light and glory of Christ's salvation. What's a few dings, or even a crack or two? If others can see the glory inside through the cracks, so much the better.
Moses: A Man of Selfless Dedication
God has made us all in His image. God's creativity is revealed when we see ourselves in the mirror everyday. God's creativity is also revealed in our intellect and our emotions among so many other things.
There are so many things within us internally and externally that God is constantly molding and shaping. Internally, God is constantly at work in molding and shaping our worldview and this is just one of many examples of God's work in us internally. Externally, it can be anything from our physical bodies to the environment we find ourselves in.
What is most remarkable is that God is glorified in His creativity. Like clay pots, we are continuously be shaped and molded to reflect more like Christ. Like the potter uses the spinning wheel to gently shape the pot using his or her delicate hands, God will use the kiln of life to mold us and shape us into the Christ-like image that He longs to see in all of His children.
Fiery trials have a way of revealing the artistry of God's tapestry in our lives. The most precious stones that are eventually used a some of the most beautiful pieces of jewelry often have to go through fire. Anything that is of extremely high value has to weather the fire of time. God is the Potter and we are the clay. Allow Him to mold you and shape you so that you can one day become His masterpiece and shine brilliantly for the entire world to see.
Thank you so much for reading this far my friends! May God continue to bless you and keep you in Jesus' mighty name! JESUS LOVES YOU AND SO DO I!!!!. . . . :-).
